Hi-Chew was invented when the company's founder, Taichiro Morinaga, was inspired to create a bubblegum-like product that would be culturally acceptable in Japan, where it was considered rude to remove food from your mouth. His creation, a chewy candy that eventually melted away, became wildly popular and today has a worldwide fan base. In fact, Hi-Chew is even a partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers Major League Baseball team.

The initial chew is very firm, almost like biting a wax candy, but it softens up quickly and gives a few minutes of really juicy, sweet chewing before disappearing.
