Let's talk banana here. No, not real bananas. That particular banana-flavor found only in Banana Laffy Taffy, which has gained a strong following despite bearing little resemblance to a real banana. Or as the blogger over at FringeCandy.com puts it, "There is something more banana than banana in the experience. After eating a Laffy Taffy, the real deal feels a little bit like a letdown."
Part of the appeal is definitely its silky texture and long-lasting flavor. And part of it is the distinctive sweet, juiciness of the Laffy Taffy banana flavor. (Think about it: other brands of taffy have strawberry, cherry, grape, etc. But no one but Laffy Taffy makes a BANANA taffy). This singular confectionery comes, as do all Laffy Taffy candies, with bonus light-hearted jokes on the wrapper (as if having the top banana taffy on the market isn't enough!). We'll let you decide whether jokes like "Why did the banana leave the cinema? The film didn’t appeal to him!" are really a bonus or not. But our guess is that someone who loves a banana flavor that is MORE BANANA THAN A BANANA would probably smile a little at some artificial humor.
