Leo Hirshfield started making Tootsie Rolls in 1896 in a small shop in New York City. He wanted to find an alternative chocolate-tasting candy that would not melt in the heat. The name "Tootsie" was his daughter Clara's nickname.

These are great!

First of all, what a great candy store and us being fortunate to live close by having treats at our fingertips. Being woman owned And having an attentive staff with so many sweet choices makes life good on many levels.
